Neon lights, suspended like scaffolding in the Kaohsiung night sky, recreate the iconic Sapphire Music Hall, bringing back the legendary stage performances that once captivated audiences across Taiwan. The characters 「廰」and 「寳」are variant forms that can still be typed on computers today. In the past, master craftsmen who made neon signs often used such variant characters to add uniqueness, simplify strokes, and improve legibility.

Sapphire Music Hall was one of the most iconic symbols of Taiwan’s stage show culture. Operating from 1975 to 1995, it was located at the intersection of Bade 2nd Road and Tong’ai Street in Kaohsiung’s Xinxing District. The venue began as a simple structure built from corrugated metal sheets and became the city’s first music hall. Its influence spread throughout Taiwan and even reached as far as Southeast Asia.
